Somatic Shadow Work in Therapy

An Introduction to Applied Somatic Jungian Practice

Learn how unconscious material surfaces through the body and how to guide clients in gentle, contained exploration using symbolic, imaginal, and somatic awareness.
Blending Jungian concepts with trauma-informed somatic methods, this introductory workshop offers short lectures, live demonstrations, and experiential practices that reveal how the body becomes a bridge between the conscious and unconscious.

You’ll leave with simple, immediately applicable tools to recognize embodied shadow cues, facilitate safe symbolic expression, and support integration through grounding, titration, and reflective dialogue.

In this training, we’ll explore:
✅ How the shadow communicates through posture, sensation, gesture, and symbolic imagery
✅ How to introduce Somatic Symbolism & Body Mapping to help clients notice where sensation meets metaphor
✅ How to use Creative Externalization to safely bring implicit material into visible form through gesture, line, or simple drawing
✅ How to apply trauma-informed principles of pacing, titration, and containment when incorporating somatic or imaginal work
✅ How to support clients in integrating shadow material through grounding, orienting, and reflective clinical dialogue

This 3-hour CE training is designed to give clinicians both conceptual clarity and an experiential feel for the work—so you can begin inviting embodied, symbolic awareness into practice with confidence and safety.

From Protection to Presence

Somatic and Symbolic Tools for Shifting Protected Parts and Relational Patterns

Learn how to help clients move beyond protective patterns — including perfectionism, fawning, shame-driven shutdown, and relational stuckness — through embodied clinical process.

In this training, you’ll learn four depth-oriented frameworks for guiding clients through somatic and symbolic exploration of protected parts — helping them access new states of relational presence, agency, and embodied self-expression.

Drawing from somatic depth psychology, Gestalt process, and polyvagal-informed clinical work, you’ll explore how to guide clients in using body-based process to shift patterns that cannot be reached through talk alone.

We’ll explore:
✅ How to facilitate meaning-making through embodied perspective shifts — helping clients re-pattern internal narratives through somatic insight
✅ How to guide shame release and relational repair through integrated somatic and imaginal practice
✅ How to help clients embody new relational possibilities by shifting postural and breath-based patterns of shame, collapse, and relational shutdown
✅ How to support embodied exploration of disowned parts and qualities — fostering deeper insight, relational healing, and self-integration
✅ How to use creative spatial and movement-based exploration to shift clients’ embodied relationship to self and others

Embodied Imaginal Process: Dreams & Active Imagination

Bringing Dreams and Imaginal Process into Somatic Depth Work

Learn how to move beyond dream interpretation — and into embodied clinical work that helps clients experience, transform, and integrate unconscious material through active imagination and somatic process.

In this training, you’ll learn three depth-oriented frameworks for helping clients engage with dreams and imaginal material through movement, breath, voice, and body-based process — supporting embodied transformation and relational integration.

Drawing from Jungian active imagination, psychosynthesis, and somatic depth practice, you’ll explore how to guide clients in working with dreams during the day, embodying imaginal figures and states, and using somatic process to support deep integration of unconscious content.

We’ll explore:
✅ How to guide clients in safely entering embodied imaginal process — using active imagination and day-dreaming as portals for somatic exploration
✅ How to support clients in embodying and transforming dream figures, images, and relational states through movement, breath, and voice
✅ How to help clients track and integrate where imaginal and dream material lives in the body — fostering embodied healing and relational change
✅ How to guide clients in exploring archetypal and symbolic material through structured embodied process

Art of Embodied Self

Integrating Expressive and Symbolic Process with Somatic Depth Work

Learn how to move beyond talk therapy — and into depth-oriented clinical work that engages the body, felt sense, and symbolic process.

In this training, you’ll learn four embodied creative frameworks for helping clients access and integrate deeper layers of experience — using expressive process, symbolic exploration, and somatic integration to support relational healing and transformative insight.

Drawing from Gestalt, Jungian, and psychosynthesis approaches — and grounded in somatic depth practice — you’ll explore how to help clients externalize and shift relational patterns and internal dynamics that cannot be fully accessed through verbal processing alone.

We’ll explore:
✅ How to use creative mapping and expressive process to help clients externalize and explore internal parts and relational patterns
✅ How to guide clients in integrating expressive art and movement-based exploration to foster embodied insight and healing
✅ How to deepen clients’ exploration of archetypal and symbolic material through structured art-based and somatic interventions
✅ How to support narrative repair and relational integration through combined symbolic and body-based process
