Therapy for Women in Midlife

When you’ve been strong for everyone else—and you’re finally ready to be seen.

You did everything they told you to do. You built the career. Showed up for your family. Kept it all moving forward. And somehow, you're more exhausted now than you've ever been.

You wake up already tired. Your mind starts racing before your feet hit the floor. By midday, you're running on fumes and willpower. By evening, you're too drained to enjoy anything—even the things you used to love.

Maybe it's the crushing weight of work deadlines and a boss who doesn't see you. Maybe it's your body betraying you—perimenopause turning your sleep into a battleground, long COVID stealing your stamina, or pain that won't let up. Maybe it's the impossible math of caring for aging parents while raising kids while trying to keep your marriage alive while somehow, supposedly, also taking care of yourself.

And underneath it all? A question that keeps you up at night:

"When did I become someone I don't even recognize?"

You're not falling apart. You're finally feeling the weight you've been carrying.

For years, you pushed through. You told yourself it would get easier. You waited for the phase to pass, for things to calm down, for the moment when you'd finally catch your breath.

But that moment never came. And now your body is speaking louder than your thoughts ever could.

The anxiety that tightens your chest in meetings. The irritability that flares when someone needs one more thing. The fog that makes you feel like you're watching your own life from behind glass. The weight of putting on a brave face when inside, you feel like you're crumbling.

This is what happens when you've given everything—and forgotten to keep anything for yourself.

Your nervous system is overwhelmed. And it's been trying to tell you something for a very long time.

What if you didn't have to hold it all together anymore?

What if there was a place where you could finally stop pushing, driving, responding to demands and expectations and everyone else’s needs?

What if there was a place where you didn't have to be capable, or composed, or "fine"?

What if you could speak the truth you've been too afraid to say out loud… even to yourself?

"I don't know how much longer I can do this."

“Is this what I have worked so hard for so long for?

"I feel like I'm disappearing."

"I'm so angry and I don't even know why."

"I miss who I used to be."

Therapy isn't about fixing you, because you're not broken.

You're simply responding to a system and a life that has demanded too much for too long without giving enough back.

Therapy is about creating space for everything you've been holding—the grief, the rage, the bone-deep tiredness, the longing—so you can finally, finally put it down.

Hi, I'm Sara Anderson.

I'm a licensed psychotherapist and somatic depth coach, and for over 25 years, I've sat with women just like you—women in their 40s and 50s who've spent their whole lives being strong, and are now discovering that strength isn't the same as wholeness.

I know what it's like to wake up one day and realize the life you built doesn't quite fit anymore. To feel the weight of expectations—from work, from family, from yourself—pressing down until you can barely breathe. To wonder if this is really all there is.

I also know this: You can come back to yourself. Not the self you were at 25—but the woman you're becoming now. Steadier. Clearer. More yours than you've ever been.

My work weaves together:

  • Humanistic + Transpersonal Psychology – because you're not a collection of symptoms to manage; you're a whole human being with a story that deserves to be honored

  • Somatic and Neuroscience-Based Approaches – because your body has been keeping score, and healing happens when we help your nervous system feel safe again

  • Jungian Depth Work – because there are parts of you that have been silenced, ignored, or pushed aside—and they're ready to come home

This isn't about adding more to your to-do list. This is about peeling back the layers of who you thought you had to be, so you can remember who you actually are.

This work is for you if you're experiencing:

  • The relentless loop of anxiety and overthinking that won't let you rest

  • The numbness that's settled in where joy used to be

  • Burnout from work—whether it's toxic leadership, constant pressure, or trauma that's made showing up feel impossible

  • The physical toll of perimenopause, menopause, chronic illness, long COVID, or injuries that have changed everything

  • The exhaustion of being everyone's rock when you feel like you're crumbling inside

  • People-pleasing and overfunctioning until you don't know where you end and others begin

  • The weight of perfectionism, self-doubt, and that voice that says you're never doing enough

  • Midlife identity crisis—that disorienting feeling of "Who am I outside these roles?"

  • The loneliness of carrying everything alone, even when you're surrounded by people

Here's how we'll work together:

1. Schedule your free consultation
A gentle 15-minute conversation where you can share what's really happening—no pressure, no judgment. Just space to be honest about where you are and what you need.

2. We’ll work together
We meet online in a space that's calm, confidential, and completely yours. No performance required. No brave face needed. Just you, as you are—and that's more than enough.

3. Reclaim yourself
Together, we'll help your nervous system find safety again. We'll give language to the feelings you've been pushing down. We'll reconnect you to the woman underneath all the doing—the one who knows what she needs, who trusts herself, who remembers what peace feels like.

You'll walk away from our work feeling less like you're drowning and more like you're standing on solid ground.

Not because your circumstances have magically changed—but because you have.

Because you've come home to yourself.

You've been holding space for everyone else. Let me hold space for you.

You don't have to have it all figured out. You don't have to know exactly what's wrong or what you need. You just have to be willing to stop carrying it alone.

You deserve to feel like yourself again—steadier, softer, and finally, beautifully whole.

Let's begin right where you are.

Good Faith Estimate & Your Rights

You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your mental health care will cost.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your service

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill

  • Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate

Practice Information:
Sara Anderson, LPC #4510

Investment in Your Care:
Session fees range from $200-$350 depending on service type and session length. Most clients meet weekly or bi-weekly. Based on weekly sessions (accounting for holidays, illness, and vacation), the approximate annual investment is $9,600-$16,800 (roughly 48 sessions per year).

I maintain a private pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. This allows for greater privacy, flexibility in treatment approach, and freedom from diagnosis-driven limitations. I'm happy to provide documentation (superbills) that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement, though I cannot guarantee coverage and I do not communicate directly with insurance companies. I accept all major credit cards, HSA cards, and wire transfer. Payment is expected prior to or at the time of each session.

Psychotherapy Services:
As a Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor, I provide psychotherapy services to clients residing in Georgia who are seeking treatment for mental health concerns. Psychotherapy addresses clinical issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and other psychological conditions. For clients seeking support with life transitions, goal-setting, or professional development without mental health treatment needs, I also offer coaching and consulting services (available nationwide). We'll determine the most appropriate service during our consultation.
